Meet me at the Cafe`

Exhibition by Paulette Flint.
The Art Gallery Gladstone Hospital
1 February to 31 March

Did you ever skate at the Corones Cafe` and Skate Rink? This week we installed a very interesting exhibition at The Art Gallery Gladstone Hospital. Scones and milkshakes anyone?

“Meet me at the Café! The stories behind the cafés of Gladstone” (1900-1970) was published by Paulette Flint in May 2022. It documents and celebrates the cafés, tea rooms and milk bars from a time before television, computers and online dating.

Nothing compared to a hearty burger from Mick Corones’ Niagara Café, or a cold milk shake with shards of ice from Percy Turner at the California Grill Bar.

Take a walk down Memory Lane when you read the stories and see the photographs of these cafés of Gladstone.

“Meet me at the Café! The stories behind the cafés of Gladstone” and “What’s in a Name? The stories behind the street names of Gladstone” are available from the artist, Paulette Flint
