CQ Blossoms- Biloela

Artist – Katrina Elliott
Location:– Biloela Hospital ,  Antenatal Assessment Room.
Permanent Collection
Project – August 2019

This newly refurbished space plays an important part of caring for pregnant women and their neonate(s). The project involved research in native blossoms in the Biloela area. Creating a modern design and painting of one wall mural and one door mural in the Antenatal Assessment room.

Art can make a huge impact on how people feel when they enter a room. Some women and partners may be feeling anxious when they are coming to their appointments, by having an environment that is less clinical in looks and feel can help to lower stress levels. With a large amount of our community being from different cultural backgrounds I feel it is important and everyone feels welcome and comfortable in hospital and clinics. By using Nature as a theme, I feel this is a perfect way to welcome all that use this service.

Along with the mural an artists talk on working as an artist in the Art/Health field was given at the Banana Shire Regional Art Gallery. Giving both professional and emerging Artist an insight into the project undertaken by Katrina Elliott over the last 5 years.
